Shot in 16mm film, the documentary contains stunning underwater color footage of the old plane, inside and out, and Ralph De Loach’s moving reunion with his rescuers, all combined with totally authentic wartime combat footage and comprehensive background on the Flying Fortress.
The film was completed in 1988 and was screened in primetime on the ABC television network in Australia. It was also shown on National Geographic’s Explorer program in the United States. The Swamp Ghost DVD
Read Review | Order DVD
Review by Aero Vintage / Scott Thompson, November 2008
"Swamp Ghost: B-17E 41-2446 was timely in 2005 when it was released; it is poignant now in 2008. The primary feature on the DVD tells, in documentary style, the story of this unique airplane and freezes its status in 2005. The following year, in May 2006, the airplane was disassembled and hauled out of the remote swamp in Papua New Guinea, where it had laid since February 23, 1942."

E-Book: "5th Air Force In Profile"
Learn More | Sample PDF B-25 Mitchell | Order Now
by Michael Claringbould This 187 page book in Adobe PDF format, largely to ensure accurate color reproduction. It contains 218 digital color profiles of Fifth Air Force airplanes, with brief biographies. The digital art work portrays all common types such as Mitchell, Warhawk, Liberator, Lightning etc, but also the less common machines such as the Stinson L-5 Sentinel, Douglas A-24 Banshee, Piper L-4 Cub, and Douglas A-26 Invader.
The biographies contain rare material, and twenty are complemented by (rendered) signatures of the pilots who flew the airplanes. Appendices and text describe development of Fifth Air Force heraldry, and the book contains a massive index, along with a comprehensive four-page listing of sources. The book comes on a CD-ROM in high-resolution PDF format, in landscape format in a DVD case with cover. The CD format means if you don’t want to screen-read the book, you can print it off yourself. The electronic format also keeps the retail price down to $22.50 which includes delivery anywhere in the world.
