Mitchell
It remains one of Papua New Guinea's best known and most intact
aircraft wrecks, yet until now the truth behind its demise has been shrouded
in rumor and mystery. The history of this Mitchell is both unique and
unusual, having been assigned to the Thirteenth rather than the Fifth
Air Force which was so predominant in the New Guinea theatre.
