B-25 "Hardships 2nd"
It was B-25 strafers like this which carried out the low-level attacks on Wewak. Hardships 2nd served with the 38th Bombardment Group. This photo was taken at Garbutt, near Townsville, Australia in mid 1944 when the bomber was visiting either on a courier run, or to have major overhaul work. The dramatic and colourful noseart indicates the motifs of the Groups four squadrons - the 71st, 405th, 822nd and 823rd Bombardment Squadrons.
