Weapons Company 7th Marines - Bloody Ridge, Peleliu

Up on Bloody Ridge, we were in the jungle, most of Sendai Division was over on the other side of us. When they attacked, they walked into a hail of fire. Before then, we had plenty of time to prepare, we cut fields of fire 20-30 yards in front of us, test fire our weapons and 37mm gun. When we fired the 37mm, it looked like roman candle. During the attack, I was hesitant to fire the gun, because it would give away our position. Guadalcanal was a snap compared to the other battles... where we were attacking. On Guadalcanal, we were defending. Peleliu the worst.
