Japanese
Personal Equipment
The imperial Japanese forces on Guadalcanal met with a variety
of circumstances on Guadalcanal. From initially being better
supplied and supported than the Marines in the earlier stages
of the campaign, to fighting on and beyond the point of starvation
and without resupply to death or the lucky thousands evacuated
at the end of the campaign.
Personal
rifle ammunition was carried on the belt
two pouches on the belt, each holding a half dozen five
rounds clips for a total of sixty rounds for the average soldier,
and bayonet holder.
Both
their helmet, sometimes with webbing covering and cap wore
the star insignia of Imperial Army. The hobnail
boot of officers, and the distinctive of separated toe of
their footwear made distinctive footprint.
