Dave Pennefather sent me the instrument
panel from Japanese Sandman II, which I fixed up and restored.
I gave it to my son, who has it up in Virginia at his home.
Also, I have a reproduction of the side of my plane, with
my name and the flags, which my son also has.
Recovery of Tail & Booms
[The tail and booms were salvaged in 2003 by Robert Greinert / HARS]. I
didn’t know they did recover it, I never heard about that, no one asked me about it. I don’t
understand why they would salvage it. The plane was cracked up pretty bad. It doesn’t really matter what I think about it, as that was almost
sixty years ago when I flew it. But, if you ask me I think
it is better for those wrecks to stay where they are, left
there alone.
