Grandson of WWII combat photographer Carl R. Thien, Justin is the creator of Pacific Wreck Database, and the author of No Place For A Picnic, a graphic novel about his grandfather, Carl R. Thien, a WWII combat photographer in the South Pacific. Mr. Taylan is team leader for Pacific Ghosts expeditions in Papua New Guinea.

Michael is not only THE Fifth Air Force historian, he is also a pilot and aircraft restorer. In addition, he lived in New Guinea for thirteen years.
