ZERO
and Pilot remains found in the jungle: We want to bring him home!
A group of researchers based in the USA found a Zero fighter and
the remains of the pilot in the jungle of New Guinea. They are looking
for information concerning this aircraft. Justin
Taylan (25),
a Pacific War researcher and historian of New York, USA went to New
Guinea in July and located the wreck in the midst of the jungle near
Port Moresby in New Guinea. The duralminium was not in such a good
shape but the red Hinomaru on the wing was as bright as it must have
been 60 years ago. In the cockpit remains of the pilot were found.
Alfred Weinzierl,
a co-researcher of Mr. Taylan, states that as the aircraft had a
tailhook it must have belonged to either the
4th or the Tainan Kokutai that both served in the New Guinea area
in 1942. It is a Mitsubishi Type 0 fighter, most probably a Model
21. For more information, visit Pacific Ghosts
