Photos of Japanese pilots & aircrews in New Guinea Found – Relatives Identified

A news release from Pacific Ghosts, seeking the relatives of As a followup from the the story, Ghost Photographs of Japanese Aircrews and Aviators, that appeared in the Japanese newspaper, Sankei Shimbun on April 18, 2003, and a followup article.

Relatives Located
The man on the far left (with wrist watch) is a Corporal Takazaki. He worked in a clock and watch shop so that is why he had this unusual square shaped wrist watch. His daughter and grand daugher contacted us after reading the Sankei Shimbun Artile, and shared with us a photograph of Takazaki as a Private 2nd Class while still in Japan. He died in Wewak, New Guinea and was part of a "field weapons unit", that worked with aircraft armaments.

The man on the far right is Mr.Nakano, his relative has been located. He was part of the 58th anti-aircraft batallion, and was previously based in Shanghai, China.

The man pointing was a member of the 57th Independent Anti-Aircraft Battalion, and was identified by his 81 year old brother, who served in the Solomons as a Lieutenant j.g. who served on the destroyer Kirishima when it sank, and also numerous other destroyers in the Navy, and contacted us after identifying his brother in the photograph.
