The Ghost Island
To the native Alu people, the small island of Ballale was uninhabited and avoided.  It was ‘sacu sacu’ (evil) because warriors feasted there following tribal raids.  During World War II, it was developed into a Japanese airbase.  Admiral Yamamoto was scheduled to fly to the island on April 18, 1943 but instead was shot down by P-38 Lightnings. Coming in 2007, creators Justin Taylan and Yohji Sakaida explore the history and remaining wrecks of this haunted island.

We are seeking veterans who served on Ballale from 1942 - 1945. Please share your experiences or photographs.
